The true dark is one of the things I miss living in the city. City dwellers have no idea what real darkness is like, to look up at our little corner of universe and really see.

I feel so privileged to have lived in some of the few places left where real night still lives.

I remember going hiking for Duke of Ed so many years ago into the bushland - just 2 hours out of Sydney and actually being able to identify the Milky Way. I loved stars and astronomy growing up, but never realised how much I was missing out on!

Need to do this more often…. Especially here in Hobart where the wind and rain combine to extract every last lingering strand of warmth from your body, but where we are given a lovely view of snow-capped Mount Wellington every morning.
